# Marvis AI

> Marvis is a free, open-source, privacy-first desktop AI copilot for macOS, Windows, and Linux. It runs locally as a floating bar above your workspace, provides screen-aware assistance with explicit permission, transcribes meetings locally, and connects to AI providers with zero cloud storage.

## Core Features
- **Screen-Aware Context**: Press ⌘⏎ (Ctrl+Enter on Windows/Linux) to send your active screen frame along with your prompt ("explain this", "what changed", "debug this"). Screen frames are stored solely in an in-memory 60-second rolling ring (≤120 frames, ≤64 MB) and never touch the disk.
- **Real-Time Meeting Transcription**: Transcribes mic and system audio into speaker-labeled transcripts with rolling TLDR summaries every 5 turns. Supports on-device whisper.cpp and sherpa models for 100% offline transcription, plus optional hosted Deepgram streaming.
- **BYOK & Local LLMs**: Bring Your Own Key (BYOK) for OpenAI, Anthropic Claude, Google Gemini, and OpenRouter, or run completely local and offline using Ollama or OpenAI-compatible local endpoints.
- **Local-First Privacy Architecture**: No user accounts, no telemetry, no cloud sync, and no Marvis servers. All data stays in `~/.marvis/` on your device.

- **Speech Models**: `~/.marvis/models/` (on-device whisper.cpp and sherpa ASR models)
- **Audio Workspace**: `~/.marvis/tmp/` (scratch audio processing)
- **Screen Buffer**: In-memory ring buffer (maximum 60 seconds / 64 MB RAM, zero disk writes)

## Supported Platforms
- **macOS**: Apple Silicon & Intel (macOS 13+) via ScreenCaptureKit
- **Windows**: Windows 10/11 x86_64 via Windows Graphics Capture (WGC) and WASAPI audio
- **Linux**: x86_64 distributions via XDG desktop portal and PipeWire
